Sex Crimes

When you think about a “sex crime”, the first thing that comes to mind is “rape”, but this is not always true. Sex crimes can be defined on many different levels depending on what the situation is. Crimes like this can be handled pretty harshly by the court systems. There are many different sex crimes that are recognized by the state of Texas. Some of the sex crimes that can be prosecuted are Child Exploitation, Date Rape, Rape, Sexual Battery, Child Molestation, Indecent Exposure, Statutory Rape, Prostitution, Child Pornography, Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, Sexual Assault, and Solicitation of Prostitution. Defining some of these terms can be one of the hardest parts of being arrested for a sex crime.

  • Sexual Battery- is defined as any and all non-consensual touching of intimate parts of someone else.
  • Indecent Exposure-is defined as exposing part or all of the body that could be deemed offensive.
  • Prostitution- is defined as the selling of sexual activity for either money or some other benefit.
  • Sexual Assault- is defined as any physical sexual contact that is unwanted by the victim. This includes any type of contact whether it’s small or large.
  • Solicitation of Prostitution- This also ties into prostitution. This means buying a sexual favor in exchange for you giving money or another agreed on alternative.

Although there are many other examples of sex crimes, this is just a few of the definitions. Sex crimes can be a hard thing to go through and having any kind of explanation at all can be a big help.
